Travelling into Wales
You cannot travel directly to Wales if you’ve visited or passed through a country on the UK 'red list' in the last 10 days. In order to enter the Wales from a ‘red list’ country, you can only come in via a designated port of entry in England or Scotland and you must isolate for 10 days in a managed quarantine hotel near your point of entry. You will also need to meet the other requirements as set out here.
If you are travelling from a country on the UK's 'amber list', you will still need to isolate for 10 days, but will be able to do so in your own home or with friends/family, or in temporary accommodation such as a hotel. You must isolate in only one place for the entire 10 day period. You will also need to meet the other requirements as set out here.
For those travelling into Wales from a 'green list' country, you will not need to isolate, but you will also need to meet the other requirements as set out here.

Planning your trip
Travel Insurance
If you are planning to travel abroad, make sure you have appropriate travel insurance for overseas travel, and purchase it as soon as you book your trip. Read the Foreign Office guidance on purchasing insurance for more information.
International restrictions
Many countries and territories have introduced screening measures such as temperature checks and health/travel questions, and entry restrictions at border crossing and transport hubs.
Make sure you check the travel advice for all the countries you are planning to visit or travel through.
Air Travel
Many airlines continue to operate reduced or changed flight schedules as a result of Covid-19. Make sure you check the latest information with your travel company or airline before you travel.
International cruises
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office advises against cruise ship travel at this time. More guidance on cruise travel during Covid 19 can be found here.
If you are due to go on a cruise, check with your travel company for further advice regarding your booking.
International education trips

When you’re abroad
If travel advice changes when you are abroad
If Foreign and Commonwealth Office travel advice changes, you are advised to follow the advice of the local authorities. Your safety and security is the responsibility of the local authority where you are.
If you are abroad when the advice changes, contact your airline or travel company, and your insurance provider as soon as you are able to.
You should also keep checking Foreign and Commonwealth Office travel advice. They only organise assisted departures in exceptional circumstances.

Quarantine while you are abroad
If the local authority where you are proposes to quarantine you for your own protection, you should follow their advice. When you are abroad, your safety and security is their responsibility.
When abroad you must be ready to comply with changing restrictions to manage local COVID-19 outbreaks, including border closures, movement restrictions, testing and quarantine requirements. Should local measures prevent your travel plans, you should also contact your airline or travel company, and your insurance provider as soon as you can.
