Prestatyn businesswoman attends Parliament event

I welcomed Elin Hughes-Jones of Hire Hun to Meta’s ‘Small and Medium Business Christmas Westminster Reception’.

The event was a culmination of Meta’s ‘Good Ideas Studios Roadshow’ - a series of training events, networking and support sessions in Birmingham, Edinburgh and Manchester which equip hundreds of UK entrepreneurs with the skills and tools they need to grow their businesses with confidence.

Meta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities and grow businesses. Elin established her Event Styling business in 2020 and their growth has been strongly reliant on Instagram.

Elin said:

“The online element is hugely important to my business, Instagram plays a huge role; the backdrops I create are all Instagram worthy, so I was thrilled to meet with Meta.

“Making the connection with them was extremely useful and there could be opportunities as a result. I work very much on my own, so it was good to be part of a wider conversation regarding entrepreneurs and how important they are to the local economy and how there is a need for more support for them. It was good to hear that Meta also see the importance of that.

“It was such a fantastic opportunity for me, and I am extremely grateful to James for inviting me.”

There were a number of people who during lockdown took the plunge and started their own businesses and it is great that so many of them, like Elin, are doing so well despite the challenges they have faced due to the pandemic, and now the cost of living crisis. It is important that we provide these entrepreneurs with the help they need to flourish.
