Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies was hands on during a visit to a Rhyl bakery, rolling his sleeves up to knead dough whilst finding out more about how the bakery is helping to support the local community.
James paid a visit to ‘Use Your Loaf’ on Abbey Street, part of the Bedford Street Community Company Ltd, which aims to benefit the area of West Rhyl, particularly residents out of work and those with mental health issues.
The bakery offers free courses to teach people to bake handmade artisan breads while gaining qualifications and work experience. It also provides weekly free community events which are available to everyone; employed, unemployed, students, carers, retired.
Commenting after his visit, James said:
“I had heard many great things about ‘Use Your Loaf’ so was pleased to finally pay them a visit and find out more about how they are helping people in Rhyl.
“It is an excellent initiative which has already benefitted a great many since it opened earlier this year.
“Their products are of a high standard and sold at a low price to the local community, so everyone benefits.
“I enjoyed rolling up my sleeves to help knead some sweet dough, whilst chatting to the team about the local area and the need for sustainable jobs.
“They are certainly helping to tackle some of the issues in the area by providing the training they do and I thank them for all their efforts.
